Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya Movie Review

I am the one who usually gets completely bored while watching typical Love stories. Even though I had been waiting for this movie especially for Gowtham's chemistry which was impressive in Kaaka kaaka. and for ARR who is known for his romantic BGMs in love stories like Jeans, Duet, Alaipayuthey (Sakhi) and Munbe va BGM from Sillunu oru kadhal (Nuvvu nenu prema).

"Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya - A different Love story - Yet again"

The caption looks more apt for the movie (even more than the film's title)

Yes, its another love story (Yet Again) which we have been watching since the time of our primary schooling where hero and heroin share the same street/house, "Love at first sight" ani cheppi continue ayipovatam, intlo parents oppukokapovatam and the same tape continues.

Well is this a Different love story (considering the caption of this movie)? YES, it is. The concept of heroin being elder to Hero was a news to me. And last 45 minutes was extremely taken well !!

As I have mentioned, there is absolutely nothing new in the first half. Vaaranam Aayiram lo "Daddy daddy daddy" puranam aithe indhulo "Jessie Jessie Jessie" puranam, arigipoina cassette madhiri. But the emotions did work out in few scenes. Interestingly, I could guess each and every single scene in the movie except for the climax.

Negatives:

1. I got totally pissed off with Simbhu's mannerisms (infact its the character here) mixed with hell lot of "Immaturity" and Adolescence before Hosona song (the very next scene after he sees Trisha).
It just reminded me of Varanam Aayiram "train scene" where Surya sees Sameera for the first time. Aa thala badhukovatam, banging his head, tapping his chest (heart), holding his fingers, gate ni pattukuni pull ups cheyyatam, edho aapukoleni emotions aapukuntunnatu jeevincheyatam.. and finally blaming the girl saying, "YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE". What the CRAP ? ! ?

2. As I had pointed out, too much of "Jessie Bhaagawatham" and "I LOVE U" Manthra even in the scenes which doesn't require. If you love someone truly, then show it in deeds/caring. But chanting and singing "I love U" would fetch you nothing !!

3. Trisha's acting, she couldn't portray emotions even in the sad scenes. Sarigga Glycerine kooda veskovatam raaledhu. In many scenes, oke kantlonchi kaneeru vasthu untundhi. May be thats possible with "True Love"

4. Too much of show off with English words. "Classy, well read, beautiful" - intha varaku baga ne undhi. Next line lo "And S**y too" - What the hell? Possibly the worst ever compliment a girl could ever receive IMO. Inko aanimuthyam, "You are HOT". Is he playing the role of a Flirt or a Lover?

5. Again unncessary Romance in most of the scenes. Chance dhorikithe velli meedha padipothunnadu. It was limited and good in Varanam Ayiram, but here its irritating.

6. The chemistry which worked out well in Kaaka Kaaka is completely missing here.

7. Mana regional language lo boothulu matladithe "Mass" antaaru, "Indecent" antaaru and "Uncivilized" antaru. Adhe English lo boothulu matladithe? Is that called "CLASSY" and "WELL READ"? :P

---

Anyways, one a special note - ARR's BGM and Songs are very good. I could see few reviews mentioning that "ARR IS BACK". But the fact is our Master has never left us

Few Questions to Gowtham Menon:

1. Why is that you are so pasionate about Hindu - Christian Love chemistry?

2. Whats the actual reason for making 2 different climax for this movie? It has happened with Kaaka Kaaka (+ve and -ve climax) and Gharshana (+ve climax). And now with VTV (-ve and +ve climax) and YMC (with a +ve one).

3. I could see many similarities between your way of thinking with that of Jessie's. She is not sure of her life partner and keeps changing her decisions all the time. And you are not sure of your climax and proved it by showing the audience a climax per day. Any other climaxes in store Sir? :P

4. Why COP/Military/Boxing elements are always fit into the script for the heck of it?

5. You have a dialogue in the movie saying, "True love ante eppuduu mana tho paate undipoyedhi". And the fishy thing is you have given us few dialogues like "You are HOT". I guess the logic is somewhere missing because the so called "HOT" element never stays with us Gowtham sir.

6. No more consistent English dialogues sir. We agree you are one among the very few directors who are educated. Ala ani cheppi prathi movie lo English kummesthe ela?
